Travel in 2019: African Countries Ghanaians Should Visit

It’s another year to tick off goals in our bucket list of travel and adventure seeking. As much as we are eager to travel the world and explore every continent and cranny of it, it is always great to look inwards rather than far flung areas of the world.

Our advice for Ghanaian travelers this year is, Travel Africa.

Forget about all of it’s political turmoils, Zimbabwe is an Instagram worthy country to visit. The parks are fantastic; Lake Victoria Falls deserves to be seen by every traveler, tourist and adventurer in the world; Bulawayo also has an amazing artsy vibe with jazz cafes and poetry slam clubs. It is also one of the safest countries to visit in Africa. Also, you do not need a tourist Visa to visit Zimbabwe as a Ghanaian and you can stay visa free for up to 90 days. Did I hear you say you are packing your bags?

Egypt is hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations. Originally meant to be hosted by Cameroon, the conflict in the West African Nation has meant that the competition been moved to a different host country and Egypt has stepped up to the occasion. 7 time winners of the African Cup of Nations, Egypt with its Pyramids and 13th Century Temples and Museums of History is a great place to visit in 2019. The African Cup of Nations happening in June is only an added bonus.

Ethiopia boosted its tourism potentials by granting Visa on arrival to visitors. The landlocked country in the Horn of Africa boasts of being the only country in Africa never to have been colonized. Ethiopia is rich in ancient history and civilization and archaeological finds dating as far back as 3 million years ago are one of its key tourism attractions.

São Tomé and Príncipe

The small African Nation of São Tomé and Príncipe is home to a little over 200,000 people and is a travelers dream for beaches, rock formations and its seafood. Currently Africa’s least visited country, São Tomé and Príncipe is a paradise begging for attention. You can apply for eVisa’s online and get them approved in a short while.



Couldn’t deny Rwanda’s commitment to growing its tourism when they partnered with Arsenal Football Club in a 30 Million Pound Sterling deal to promote the Nations tourism on the clubs jersey sleeve. With National Forest Parks, acres of lush greenery and tea plantations, still and peaceful lakes, hiking trails on several mountains across its landscape, Rwanda may seem like the typical African safari destination center, but its purposeful and deliberate steps to make itself a tourism is worthy of note and we encourage you all to visit and see what they are up to. Even Bloomberg named it Africa’s Unlikeliest Destination.
